How to Make Families Feel Welcome in Schools

What is this resource?Sustaining Community is concerned with issues related to families, community engagement, and environmental sustainability. Their April 2013 blog post lays out the argument for family and school partnership by bringing together four pieces: a list of 12 things that would make a parent feel welcome at a primary school; a table that overviews the types of partnerships families can have with schools, what that partnership involves, and strategies schools can use to facilitate involvement; a list of 11 principles that support family-school partnerships; and seven dimensions for promoting partnerships.

Why is it valuable? This blog post brings together quality information about family/parent-school partnerships that stakeholders could use to educate others on the importance of this relationship.
